The Hotel Florist Podcast

When You Don’t Want to Invest in Flowers Simply to Post

Share Post

We’ve all felt the pressure: the feeling that if we’re not constantly posting behind-the-scenes (BTS) content of floral installations or new designs, we’re not showing the world how busy and successful we are. But what if I told you that not only do you not have to constantly invest in flowers just to have something to post, but that it’s also a toxic mindset that can drain your energy and creativity?

In this post, I’ll share my own journey through this struggle and why proving yourself through investing in flowers and constant BTS isn’t required. Instead, I’ll show you how to shift your mindset, embrace your passion, and use the resources you already have to create content that builds your business in a sustainable and meaningful way.

The Toxic Pressure of Prove-It Energy

When I was doing weddings, I felt the need to have a full BTS schedule. I feared that if people didn’t see me constantly working, they would assume I wasn’t good enough. But this mindset is damaging—it keeps us stuck in a cycle of constantly proving our worth instead of enjoying the journey of building a business we love.

If there’s one piece of advice I could give my younger self, it’s this: Never doubt your talent or passion just because you don’t have 10 years of experience or haven’t done the latest trending install. Your passion is what makes you incredible, and your dedication to your craft will naturally sharpen your skills over time. Trust in that process.

Legacy Over Immediate Results

Think about iconic brands like Chanel—she didn’t start by making $20,000 handbags; she started with hats. Her legacy was built over time, not through overnight success. As florists, we often pressure ourselves to post the perfect BTS content every day, but the truth is, it’s not about today’s post—it’s about what you’re building for tomorrow.

There are plenty of ways to create meaningful content without constantly spending money on flowers. Take BTS of your workspace, walk through a hotel for inspiration, or dig through your camera roll for past work you haven’t posted yet. If you want more ideas, check out this blog! Repurposing content is a smart way to keep your momentum going without the pressure of constant investment. I have 100 Instagram prompts you can use to help you along the way as well!

Investing in Knowledge Over Blooms

If you’re feeling stuck or unsure about creating content, remember there are ways to build your expertise without breaking the bank. For example, you can grab a resource like the Hotel Florist Profit Method Book for less than $50, which gives you insights and strategies to elevate your content and business. Investing in knowledge will collapse time for you, helping you learn faster and save money in the long run.

You don’t need to constantly invest in flowers just to have something to show. You can head to your wholesaler, capture B-roll of flowers, and add text overlays to share valuable insights. This builds authority without draining your resources.

Shifting the Mindset of Immediate Returns

It’s easy to feel frustrated when we don’t see immediate returns on our investments. I’ve been there myself. I poured $10,000 into building a YouTube channel for The Hotel Florist® and didn’t see an instant result. But I know those seeds will bloom over time. The key is not to expect overnight success but to trust the process and recognize that you’re planting seeds for your future legacy.

Conclusion

The pressure to constantly invest in flowers just to post on social media is a false narrative. Instead, focus on building content around your expertise, passion, and the legacy you want to create. Don’t let immediate results define your success. Every decision, every post, and every investment you make today is a step toward the business you’re building for tomorrow.
