The Power of Building Relationships Through Your Floral Business

Share Post

I have always been a huge fan of Cristina and Fleursociety for so many reasons, but at the top of the list is her commitment to educating florists and helping them embrace their entrepreneurial spirit, their eye for design, and ultimately, creating wealth through their passion for flowers. I wanted to share a story about the power of building relationships through your floral business.

Cristina and I first met virtually in 2015.

Let me set the scene on why building relationships through your floral business is so valuable:

I had just started my career in floral design.

I had been following Cristina/Posh Peony for a while on Instagram.

I had been asked to write a feature for a wedding magazine, and I had never done a wedding before as a florist, but I didn’t want to pass on this incredible opportunity.

So I needed help.

Now, this was also when Instagram was pretty new, so when I reached out to Cristina for help, I sent her a DM, but via video, and said, “Hey, I’ve got this really incredible opportunity, and I think I could make it work for both of us. I’d like to use your images and credit you for a wedding feature I’m writing for a publication in Dubai.

I would be able to cultivate a relationship that is important to me, especially at the beginning of my career, by providing them with expertise and advice, paired with your support and your flowers. Are you interested?”

Something like that!

Anyways, she instantly responded, and I thought it was the sweetest thing, and she was all about supporting me and supporting whatever it was that I needed. And didn’t miss a beat.

This is something I will never forget. Cristina was already so established within the industry, and she had every right not to reply.

Who am I? I’m just some florist soaking foam in my bathtub, in my townhouse, in the middle of nowhere Middle East.

Who was she? A luxury floral designer living in LA, growing, pivoting, and evolving in front of my eyes, realizing and embracing all of her different strengths, contributing a collective meaning to the floral community.

Fleursociety is everything she embodies. It’s encouraging, it’s teaching, and it’s showing what’s even possible.

And even when she doesn’t have all the answers – I mean, how could anyone? We are only human! – she brings in the best of the best at what they do.

It’s always about walking shoulder to shoulder with “the greats.”

It’s never about being “the best.” It’s about someone going first to see what is possible and creating a space for everyone else who wants to join them once they get there.

She has created an incredibly supportive community. There is a place for anyone who wants to be a florist or run a floral design business.

And it’s an honor to be a part of Fleursociety because of it. Building relationships through your floral business can create such amazing opportunities and collaborations.

I’m so excited to be back for my second summit with Fleursociety. The first time I was here, I gave my presentation live from South Africa and talked about niching down and the impact of hotel partnerships.

This year, I’m back to talk about diversifying your income through your services, creating consistent income through diversification, and creating consistent income through hotel partnerships.

You’ll walk away with a step-by-step strategy to begin pitching to hotels and secure hotel contracts.

You’ll walk away with what questions to ask to create a stand-out proposal, best business practices for the Hospitality Industry, and so much more to be on your way to creating consistent $5K months as a hotel florist.

I can’t wait to share the floral world through my lens.

A huge thank you to Fleursociety for giving me the opportunity and platform to do that.
