Am I Asking For Too Much In My Proposal To A Potential Hotel Floral Client?

Share Post

Calling all of my fellow dreamers – can you relate to this story from one of The Hotel Florist™ Profit Method students?

One of the HFPM students is a self-proclaimed dreamer and artist by nature.

She’d just transitioned from graphic design into floral design when she saw a unique opportunity with her hotel floral client –  There was a 100 sq. ft. empty space inside her local grocery store that would be the perfect place for a flower and gift shop.

She also knew that 100 sq. ft. was more than enough space for flowers and gifts, so she wanted to ask for a workspace within the 100 sq. ft. in her proposal.

But she was hesitant, so during one of our recent HFPM coaching calls, she wanted to know if she was asking for too much.

My advice to her on pitching her hotel floral client was this:

It’s a brilliant idea and I 100% think you should do it.

It’s a free workspace, free exposure, and you’re not just meeting your hotel floral client where he’s at but also presenting a really unique idea that adds value to both of your businesses.

In my floral design career, it’s been the moments when I leaned into my biggest and boldest ideas that had the greatest return.

Even when it was really scary to just go for it.

There’s a quote that popped into my head while I was writing this blog:

‘Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.’

Pablo Picasso said that.

How can we express our value and the solutions we’d provide for a future client if we don’t know what they need?

The Hotel Florist™ Profit Method students get immediate access to my key questions for landing hotel partnerships so you can find out EXACTLY what the client is looking for.

Asking a potential client these questions makes your proposal feel like you’re almost reading their mind.

And I encourage HFPM students to ask themselves these questions as well.

In those moments, you come up with a really juicy idea (like a built-in workspace) to create a win-win proposal for ALL involved!
