Rejection is part of the journey. Whether you’re pitching hotels, pricing your floral services, or stepping into a new level of business, fear of rejection can hold you back from the success you’re capable of achieving. Listen to the full podcast episode here.
I’ve seen so many florists hesitate to put themselves out there because they’re afraid of hearing “no.” But what if I told you that rejection is actually part of the process—and a necessary one at that?
Reframing Rejection in Business
I’ve experienced rejection in multiple industries—from expanding my family’s cigar business in Dubai to launching my floral design business in the Middle East. The key to success wasn’t avoiding rejection; it was learning how to move through it.
When I first started my floral business, I invested thousands into education. But after finishing a two-week masterclass, I realized I still didn’t know how to sell. The design skills were there, but I had no idea how to turn that knowledge into a profitable, sustainable business.
So I started pitching to potential clients. I reached out to wedding planners, event coordinators, and friends, trying to build my business one bouquet at a time. But quickly, I found myself exhausted and frustrated, chasing new clients constantly and dealing with last-minute changes and payment issues. I knew there had to be a better way.
Finding the Key to Consistent Income
That’s when I realized the power of hotel partnerships. Instead of trying to find 52 different clients a year, I could secure one hotel account and have steady income every month. The challenge? Hotels weren’t just going to say yes overnight. I had to keep pitching, keep refining my approach, and keep pushing through the no’s.
And guess what? That persistence paid off. Over time, I landed hotel contracts, built a profitable business, and created a steady revenue stream.
The difference between those who succeed and those who give up is simple: resilience. The people who keep showing up, keep refining, and keep going despite rejection are the ones who build businesses they love.
Why You Must Push Past the Fear of Rejection
Many florists stop before they even start. They tell themselves:
🚫 “If I don’t get a yes right away, this won’t work for me.”
🚫 “If I hear too many no’s, it must mean I’m not cut out for this.”
🚫 “If someone rejects my proposal, I should take it personally.”
But none of that is true. Rejection is part of the game. Every “no” brings you closer to a “yes.” The florists who succeed are the ones who are willing to hear 10 no’s just to get 1 yes. Here’s another great blog on conquering the fear of rejection.
If you’re letting fear of rejection stop you, ask yourself:
What’s scarier—hearing a few no’s or never seeing your dream business become a reality?
